To safeguard food supply, Singapore operates on three core strategies - importing from a diversity of countries and jurisdictions, boosting local production, and stockpiling. Beyond boosting local supply, the local mindset also needs to be groomed to embrace alternative proteins and novel ingredients. While the nation has made headway with alternative meats from plants, the local palate for novel ingredients remains somewhat contrived. Rather ironic for a nation where 90 percent of the conversation revolves around food and dialogues begin with "Have you eaten?"
